By now you’re probably thinking about the bottom line: How much are you going to spend to get DTV, and what devices or components do you need? The answer depends on your situation.
You may want to consider:
- An upconverting DVD player that utilizes an HDMI connection. This will make all your DVDs look better.
- An HD DVD player or Blu-ray player if you want to watch DVD in High Definition. (You would not need the upconverting one if you do this since both Blu-ray and HD DVD can play standard DVDs).
- All HDTVs have a Digital Audio output because all HDTVs must be able to output Digital 5.1 Audio (five-speaker surround sound). A sound system is recommended to anyone who wants to enjoy the full HD experience (you will need a digital audio fiber optics audio to make this work).
- Multiple HDMI cables. Not only are these the very best of all connections, they are also the easiest way to hook up video products. Keep in mind, not all cables are created equally. Some HDMI cables may not work for various reasons (the wire is not thick enough and cannot carry a full signal). Do not short change yourself on a cable. Your video signal is only as good as it weakest link.
